OUR COMPANY HISTORY

Hello, I'm Kimberly Burnette, owner, operator and disc jockey at Music Box Productions, Inc. In 1994, my husband Rod & I founded Music Box with the vision to transform the wedding DJ industry. We believed that the entertainment at any given event was the single most important element that would lead to the success or failure of that celebration. The entertainment was the driving force that would keep the party flowing, hold the attention of the guests and act as the barometer of how the night would be remembered. We knew that by providing exceptional entertainment with genuine professionalism and individualized personal service, we could make a difference in the mobile entertainment industry.

Rod at that time was already a ten-year veteran in the entertainment industry. His extensive resume began at the age of fifteen, providing local school dances. Rod spent the five years that followed high school with the U.S. Navy as a Journalist working for Armed Forces Radio & Television. Upon military discharge, Rod continued pursuing his love for video and audio and graduated from United Broadcasting School in Phoenix Arizona. Rod's career choice revolved around every aspect of music, radio and entertainment from California to Phoenix to Detroit, the place he today calls home.

I myself am native to Michigan, raised in Sterling Heights. My career in the service industry began at the age of 18 as I waited tables in an Italian restaurant while obtaining my Liberal Arts Degree from Macomb Community College. It was then that I developed my love for the service industry. I really enjoyed seeing and feeling the immediate results of happy, satisfied customers.

Once I received my Associates from MCC, I decided to move on for my bachelors degree at Wayne State University. I remained gainfully employed within the restaurant industry moving from bartending to management. It was during these ten plus years in the restaurant industry that I obtained my bachelors from WSU in Industrial Psychology. As I worked and learned, I envisioned what it would be like to own a company of my own, considering what it would be like to offer to the public the best in customer service delivered by motivated and dedicated individuals. As I approached completion of my education at Wayne I met Rod who introduced me to the unique and exciting world of entertainment. The choice to own and operate a dj company then became my fate.

Rod & I spent months researching the local market we were anxious to compete within. Our findings had confirmed our initial instincts that the mobile dj industry in Metro Detroit was indeed lacking. There was a desperate need for educated, seasoned and talented individuals with a true understanding of customer service. Individuals that were willing to go the extra mile doing everything within their power provide the most memorable of any occasion, "Exceeding their clients' every expectation". It was within these core principals that Music Box Productions, Inc. was established.

Over a decade ago, Music Box opened as full-time, full service, husband & wife mobile entertainment company. Today we employ more than 25 of the most talented, dynamic individuals that you will ever encounter servicing over 300 events annually. It's our customer's continued satisfaction that has placed us in the industry leader role we play today. The vision, founding standards and core principals established more than ten years ago, is embedded in all of us at Music Box enabling us to provide the highest of quality in service and entertainment. Guided daily by our mission statement that was drafted back in 1994:
